Bringing New Light to a WVU Landmark
City Neon is proud to play a role in the upcoming upgrades to the WVU Water Tower on the Evansdale campus, where our custom LED lighting design will illuminate the iconic “Flying WV” for all to see.
This project is more than just a lighting installation, it’s about community pride, collaboration, and celebrating West Virginia in a way that reaches students, alumni, visitors, and Mountaineer fans everywhere. The WVU Water Tower has been a recognizable landmark for decades, and soon it will shine as a beacon of optimism and achievement across the region.
The upgrades, made possible by Hope Gas, reflect President Benson’s vision to enhance campus landmarks that welcome and inspire. The improvements will include a full cleaning, fresh paint, weather protection, and, of course, our LED lighting design to give the “Flying WV” a brilliant glow during athletic events, celebrations, and other special occasions.
City Neon Owner Dan Smith shared, “We’re thrilled to work with President Benson’s office on this project! Projects like this are exactly what City Neon lives for, and we’re grateful to Hope Gas for making it possible.”
This collaboration between WVU, Hope Gas, the West Virginia Building and Construction Trades, and the International Union Painters and Allied Trades showcases what can happen when skilled trades and community partners come together. It’s the kind of project that not only upgrades a structure, but also uplifts the spirit of the community it represents.
Stay tuned as this exciting transformation takes shape. We can’t wait to see the WVU Water Tower shine as a symbol of Mountaineer pride for years to come.
